#IndieSpotlight: Round Table Books

Tell us about Round Table Books.

Round Table Books is a children’s bookshop which stocks titles by or about those who are largely underrepresented in the world of literature. We’re trying to cater to everyone with what we choose to stock that spans from BAME people to people with disabilities and those on the LGBTQ+ spectrum.

Describe the bookshop in three words.

Inclusive, Warm and Fun.

What do you love about working here?

There’s something very rewarding about talking to children about books; what they enjoy and what they absolutely loathe.

What are you excited about reading next?

The reading of a bookseller is never truly done so I like to read multiple books at once so I’m pumped for a whole bunch. For my younger titles, Pet by Akwaeke Emezi looks amazing and I’m very excited about finishing that because it will be out soon. Also, We Need New Stories by Nesrine Malik.

We love events and hope we can restart them soon.

Last September Hannah Lee came to the shop to read from My Hair and sign some of her picture books. It’s a favourite in the store.
