09 May Ali’s Debut on Wandsworth Radio
The Friday night show on our local radio station, Wandsworth Radio, has a small slot for local charities and community groups to talk about their projects and how they are benefitting the local community.
As a fellow Community Interest Company (CIC) we were thrilled to talk about the involvement of Book Clubs in Schools in Wandsworth.
We took part on April 28th, in a tiny studio on the top floor, above the Oasis charity shop on Battersea Park Road. They had done their homework and we got a great introduction followed by useful and relevant questions. I got to namecheck our website a couple of times and told people to email us if they want to enrol their school.
You can listen to the interview here. It’s interrupted by the telephone ringing which was very off-putting but we kept on talking through it – it was the Wandsworth Borough Police Commander and they got him on air after my slot.
The experience was a little bit nerve-wracking but not as scary as I thought as you are talking to an audience of two in the studio and have no idea how many people are listening. Funny enough I received a message from a friend later that evening asking if I had been on the radio.…
